Honeycombing: particularly if it involves more than 5% of the lung parenchyma, is highly specific for UIP. When describing imaging features, the term UIP pattern is often used, which has specific diagnostic criteria on HRCT 16. The positive predictive value of CT in the diagnosis of UIP is high and ranges from 70-100% 1. Similar to the pathology specimen, cross-sectional imaging also reveals heterogeneity, with patchy areas of fibrosis alternating with areas of normal lung 5. Usually, due to the more extensive involvement of the lower lobes, the major fissure is shifted inferiorly which is best seen on the lateral chest radiograph. While chest radiographs can be even normal in patients with very early disease, in advanced disease, it may show decreased lung volumes and basal fine to coarse reticulation. In practice, the diagnosis is usually made in a multidisciplinary approach involving chest physicians, radiologists and pathologists with expertise in interstitial lung disease 12. Medications/drug toxicity: amiodarone lung Mixed connective tissue disease: either a UIP or NSIP pattern 4Īsbestos-related interstitial lung disease: asbestosis 1 Polymyositis/ dermatomyositis: a UIP, NSIP, or c ryptogenic organizing pneumonia pattern 4 Systemic sclerosis (scleroderma): either a UIP or NSIP (more common) pattern 4 Rheumatoid arthritis: UIP is considered to be the dominant pattern in those with rheumatoid arthritis who have concurrent interstitial lung disease 3 These would include:Ĭonnective tissue disorders (CTD associated UIP): falls under the broader spectrum of connective tissue disorder interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD) UIP pattern of interstitial lung disease can be seen in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or secondary to underlying systemic diseases. Inflammation is absent or mild and mostly limited to the areas of honeycombing 1-12. The distribution of UIP characteristically is with an apicobasal gradient with basal and peripheral (subpleural) predominance, although it is often patchy. Honeycombing, particularly if it involves more than 5% of the lung volume, is an almost 100% specific finding. On a typical biopsy, there are areas of normal lung alternating with interstitial fibrosis and honeycombing. The histological diagnosis of UIP is based on temporal and spatial heterogeneity, which is the identification of fibrotic lesions at different stages (fibroblastic infiltrates, mature fibrosis, and honeycombing) within the same biopsy specimen and architectural distortion. However more recently the term idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has been applied solely to the clinical syndrome associated with the morphologic pattern of UIP, with the specific exclusion of entities such as non-specific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) and desquamative interstitial pneumonia (DIP) 1. In the past, the term usual interstitial pneumonia was used synonymously with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

And I guess this lets THEM not have to worry about putting together a system that's not going to work together well enough to pass the multiple days of testing they put it through after assembly. The way I came to think of it is that F-NW offers a "curated" set of selections for your components, so you don't have to worry that you're going to make any serious blunders in your choices. Fortunately, it was so well-reviewed by the online tech experts - "texperts?" (hmm, maybe not) - that I wouldn't have wanted another one, anyway.) For example, when I decided we'd go with Ryzen 5000 series CPUs, the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero was the only motherboard offered. (A few items are "locked into" the design once certain other choices are made. (And I checked out a LOT of places online while I was spec'ing out our systems.) It doesn't offer low-end "cheapo" component options but it does offer a good range of selections in most categories. (Though I imagine the well-executed double-boxed shipment packaging gets a bit of the credit there, too.)į-NW's online configurator is the cleanest, most informative, and most convenient one I've used. (The CPU is handled by a Falcon Northwest-branded Asetek AIO cooler that's included standard.) In keeping with the elegant ruggedness of the overall design, the GPU is supported by a sturdy end bracket which holds it in place so securely that there's no need for those ubiquitous expandable foam bags to be used internally during shipment. The exclusive custom-designed Talon case, which also includes an RGB-illuminated falcon logo on the front - and which they only sell as part of a complete computer, no matter how much DIYers may ask them to make the case available separately - is virtually all metal, and designed to provide good airflow for cooling of everything but the CPU. Our systems have continued to work flawlessly during that time.)īoth systems are beautifully constructed & cable-routed, and the standard tinted glass side panels display the significant but not overdone internal RGB nicely. (BTW, I waited until we'd used our systems for several weeks before writing this review. In closing, for all the topics mentioned above, I will continue to recommend Falcon Northwest to anyone who is considering purchasing a new computer!Ī friend & I purchased 2 identical high-end Talon computers from Falcon Northwest and we could not be happier. In my experience, when I mentioned I was considering more costly options, they kindly mentioned it really wasn't needed and I wouldn't benefit in performance for my needs. When ordering a new computer, they first ask what it will mainly be used for and then suggest which components should be considered. This holds true for all past tech support contacts as this is my second Talon with the first still operating after 14 years.Įver since purchasing my first Talon, I can't count the times I've told people about the extreme high quality of Falcon Northwest computers and the excellent, above and beyond efforts of the support staff! This also holds true for the sales personnel. When a telephone conversation is necessary, I have never been rushed nor has there been any indication of too much time being spent by the support staff regarding explanations or instructions. All of my emails are answered within a day and are very detailed, some with photos to further help me understand what actions I have to take. Recently, I have had issues with my Talon. I would like to bring to your attention the excellent support I've received from the technical team members of Falcon Northwest. Will I receive this same dismal service and support if there's a problem? It certainly seems likely. The seasoned company has lost its way and only seems to cater to critics – not the average customer. Glossy sock puppet reviews from so-called expert sites speak to the effort made to produce a perfect product – for the review, but do not speak to the actual experience. Help me understand how this is customer centered service and not to be construed as retaliatory? In the end, I will be losing money and do not have the option to wait for another company to build a computer. Again, there was no communication from Falcon NW regarding a delay at any point of the dialog or on the status of the build. Furthermore, I clearly communicated a business was reliant on the build and could not afford delays. In fact, the ship date was stated twice in the email communication. While can certainly appreciate being swamped, workload was not communicated to me anytime during the wait period. It seems a lot like retaliation for questioning build components. Its been 21 days and they still have yet to complete the build.ĥ. Customer service became defensive and combative and never really answered my questions.Ĥ. While I was waiting on the build I had questions about the components used in the build.ģ. Ordered computer: stated 17 days to build.Ģ. You can dock certain favorite panels on the side of the window. Home News Action Crimson Desert Crimson Desert is being delayed to an unspecified date By Ruth Cassidy published 29 July 2021 An updated schedule will be released in the future. Crimson Desert was initially scheduled to release in late 2021 but Pearl Abyss delayed the game indefinitely in the Summer of 2021. Crimson Desert wants to take these combat systems to a whole new level. Hacking and slashing with weapons and abilities is the norm for this genre. From the makers of Black Desert, Crimson Desert is set in a fantasy world on the continent of Pywel. Pearl Abyss aims to keep fans updated as much as possible in the upcoming months before the game's launch. It will be available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation systems. You can’t have an open-world action RPG without a good combat system. Pearl Abyss projects Crimson Desert to release in the winter of 2021, although no exact date has been specified at this time. So far, the art style is looking just as stunning as Black Desert, albeit with the rough edges that define its brutal world. Updates Crimson Desert Resurfaces After Two Years, And Will Be Revealed Again Soon Ryan Parreno This game has a lot of potential to put Pearl Abyss on the map as a global class Korean. Of course, don’t let that make you believe the game won’t look great. The world and its characters are designed to be gritty and dark in both their physical and personal characteristics. Crimson Desert aims to be the opposite of this. The Crimson is an evil biome with a fleshy infection, red gore theme, in contrast to the dark purple wasteland theme of its counterpart, the Corruption. Pearl Abyss is known primarily for their hit online RPG Black Desert, a game that is defined by the beauty of its characters. By exploring the world of Crimson Desert, you’ll be able to explore mountainous snowy regions, richly green grasslands, desolate badlands, and, of course, the titular Crimson Desert that promises to hide dangers and mysteries aplenty. One more huge perk is that each building in the game is like a mini dungeon. One quick note-because this is a work in progress game, Alpha 18 has promised to restructure this, so this could change when the new update drops. If you prefer building and crafting, then we recommend opting for something like Minecraft or Terraria. If this is your preference, then you’ll have a blast with this game. In order to do this, you have to grind your way through hordes, as slaying zombies is the most effective way to gain experience and level up. We feel this skill tree is mildly flawed, as they want you to slowly build up levels and restrict important aspects-like the forge and bikes-until level 20. There’s also a skill tree that grants you improved abilities as you go along. These include: screamer zombies, which alert and spawn hordes with a banshee-like shriek spider zombies, which can climb through your windows for an unexpected evening soiree and policeman zombies, who are a solid combination reminiscent of the Spitter and Boomer from the Left 4 Dead franchise. That said, 7 Days also boasts some really cool zombies which make gameplay unpredictable and unique. However, if you like that sort of challenge, then, by all means, club and shoot your way through the horde and have a blast. It’s mildly frustrating when you’re trying to protect your base from them and the developers have amped it up so high that you really struggle to defend your base. They know when you’ve crafted and set any traps-and they maneuver around them with ease. However, Alpha 17 updated the game so that these zombies are intelligent. They know when you’ve crafted and set any traps-and they maneuver around them with ease.Īs we previously mentioned, zombies are supposed to be shambling, drooling monsters with a penchant for brains. However, in 7 Days, Alpha 17 updated it so that these zombies are intelligent. Zombies are supposed to be shambling, drooling monsters with a penchant for brains. We hope that the story will be optional since as a survival horror sandbox, it works very well. Our understanding is that the end goal of 7 Days is to add a story, but right now they’re focused on honing in general gameplay. As the 7 days pass, they get harder to defeat. They will find you and claw their way to you, and you have to fend yourself and your base from them. The other, titular part of the plot: every seven days, a zombie horde descends upon you. After all, zombies are shambling, drooling monsters, but 7 Days to Die may surprise you (more on that later). Alpha 17 does have some smaller quests from Traitor Joe’s, like clearing out zombies in a location, or digging up instructions in a marked spot on the map, but overall the goal is survival. Other than that, the world is yours for the conquering. The game loosely hints of nuclear fallout, but what matters is civilization has recently fallen and you’re the only person alive. Once you complete the tutorial, it’s an open sandbox sprinkled with horror and survival elements. You will feel the effects of heat as the desert raises your temperature, and you will starve as the snow biome depletes your caloric intake. You need water and you need to hunt, forage, and scavenge to survive. Do you want Scavenger (easiest setting) or do you want to play on the hardest settings in which the game actually tells you, “You’re one bad mother!”? Do you want the 24-hour cycle to span 30 minutes or two hours of real time? Do you want zombies to sprint at night? How many zombies do you want in your day 7 horde? These are all great options for creating unique and challenging gameplay. One of the nicest aspects about 7 Days is that when you boot up a game, and even after, you have a plethora of options to customize gameplay. Everything, down to the very arch on the eyebrows, is customizable. If you’d like to make a unique character, it’s easy with a creation system similar to Skyrim. You’ll press the “New Game” button and you’ll need to create a new character, which is easy if you choose one of the preset characters from the list. It takes a little while to download, but once it boots up, you’re in. Spotmau Power Suite Golden Edition 7.0.1.3 + Bootable ISO | 909 Mb With serious ethical discussion thus sidelined, technological change itself becomes the fundamental imperative, despite the reasonable doubts both Haldane and Russell have concerning its ultimate consequences. But the manner in which they frame the problem stands in the way of articulating a clear moral goal that might serve as progress’s purpose and judge. Russell feared for the future because he doubted the ability of human beings to generate sufficient “kindliness” to employ the great powers unleashed by modern science to socially good ends.īoth authors explore the problem of relating moral and technological progress with sufficient depth that we would benefit by reexamining this debate with a view to our own time. Haldane believed that morality must (and will) adapt to novel material conditions of life by developing novel ideals. The real argument is about the meaning of and prospects for moral progress, a debate as relevant today as it was then. Russell, on the other hand, can imagine circumstances (albeit unlikely ones) where the power of science could be ethically or socially constrained. Haldane freely highlights horrible possibilities for the future, and he is quite blunt about the socially problematic character of scientific research and scientists. While this view is understandable, it is hardly exhaustive. The titles of the essays, Haldane using Daedalus and Russell Icarus, support the common idea that Haldane writes as an advocate of progress and Russell as a skeptic. There is also little question that Haldane’s work influenced two of the greatest British critics of scientific and technological progress: Julian Huxley and C. Russell, already a famous philosopher, answered him as part of a speakers series sponsored by the Fabian Society under the general title, “Is Civilization Decaying?” The published version of Haldane’s remarks created no little controversy even Albert Einstein had a copy in his library. Haldane, who would go on to an extremely distinguished career as a biochemist and geneticist, spoke under the auspices of the Cambridge Heretics discussion club. The ambiguity in the meaning of moral progress is at the heart of a 1923 debate between biochemist J. B. S. Haldane and logician Bertrand Russell, two of the greatest and most argumentative public intellectuals of twentieth-century Britain. Genuinely novel ethics are not always genuine improvements, while many anciently articulated ethical goals remain elusive. Either meaning poses very serious challenges. But progress in ethics might also mean what Abraham Lincoln had in mind when describing the principles of the Declaration of Independence as “a standard maxim for free society … constantly looked to, constantly labored for, and even though never perfectly attained, constantly approximated.” Dyson’s idea suggests new ideals replacing old ones as history moves technologically forward Lincoln’s idea suggests more permanent human aspirations that serve as the measure of different ages. The physicist Freeman Dyson offers one common - and very modern - way of describing our predicament: “Progress of science is destined to bring enormous confusion and misery to mankind unless it is accompanied by progress in ethics.” In other words, we need some novel ethic to match our technological ingenuity. Doubts about the goodness of scientific and technological progress are hardly new, and fears about the dangers of human knowledge existed long before it became plausible to worry that the fate of the entire world might be in peril. RE: Calling All L4 E元4i Users, posted on Maat 20:11:56 Overall, this is a spectacular amp that I highly recommend. The vocals are more distinct from the instruments and seem to be out front - The Shindo presentation was much flatter and seemed narrow. I always found the mid and upper end on the Shindo to be a little dark - the L4 is brighter, more detailed with a more colorful presentation. The Shindo was OK, but seemed to sit in the distance. First, bass from the L4 is deeper, more detailed, and it sort of jumps out into the room with more density. But after finishing the kit and letting it run in for a few days, it's clear to me that the overall sound is much more appealing to me. I had the Montrachet for 18 month and I wasn't unhappy with it. The easiest comparison for me to make is between the Montrachet and L4 amps. My speakers are Audio Note AN-E SPe Signature SE with external crossovers. The Audio Note kits sound significantly better than the Shindo gear, and they cost about 1/3 the price, before you count your time. I can't compare directly to other integrated amps, but I can compare to the amp/preamp that I had before the kits - a Shindo Monbrison and Shindo Montrachet. It was my 3rd kit in the past 15 months - I started with a DAC 4.1LE, then a L4 preamp, and recently I finished the L4 E元4 amp. Hi audiomaniac - I have the amp-only version of the L4 E元4, and I am very happy with it. RE: Calling All L4 E元4i Users, posted on Maat 19:33:27 Are there any of you that have this kit?
