The vocals are more distinct from the instruments and seem to be out front - The Shindo presentation was much flatter and seemed narrow. I always found the mid and upper end on the Shindo to be a little dark - the L4 is brighter, more detailed with a more colorful presentation. The Shindo was OK, but seemed to sit in the distance. First, bass from the L4 is deeper, more detailed, and it sort of jumps out into the room with more density. But after finishing the kit and letting it run in for a few days, it's clear to me that the overall sound is much more appealing to me. I had the Montrachet for 18 month and I wasn't unhappy with it. The easiest comparison for me to make is between the Montrachet and L4 amps. ![]() My speakers are Audio Note AN-E SPe Signature SE with external crossovers. The Audio Note kits sound significantly better than the Shindo gear, and they cost about 1/3 the price, before you count your time. I can't compare directly to other integrated amps, but I can compare to the amp/preamp that I had before the kits - a Shindo Monbrison and Shindo Montrachet. It was my 3rd kit in the past 15 months - I started with a DAC 4.1LE, then a L4 preamp, and recently I finished the L4 E元4 amp. Hi audiomaniac - I have the amp-only version of the L4 E元4, and I am very happy with it. RE: Calling All L4 E元4i Users, posted on Maat 19:33:27 Are there any of you that have this kit? What are your impressions? Also, I would be very interested in any comparisions to other integrated amps that you have owned or may have heard. Hello, I'm new to Audio Note kits and looking at the L4 E元4i. ![]()
